Examines traditional numerical methods of space projections, questions some of the fundamental assumptions about space projections, and presents an alternative approach to space projections based on a new, straightforward benchmarking methodology.  This approach is based upon projection methods that have not been derived from fixed space guidelines but instead use space per faculty member as the basis for prediction and allocation, a methodology pioneered by the author's firm.  Presents the results of a national space benchmarking study among Research I universities that were part of the projection methodology.
