Asbestos was used extensively in the construction of schools, office buildings, and homes until the early 1970s, and now building owners are faced with its safe removal or containment. Describes EPA-created, university-based National Asbestos Safety Institutes and satellite centers, which sponsor seminars, workshops, and hands-on training sessions on locating asbestos and initiating safe abatement procedures.
