Article defines what a carbon footprint is and how it can be measured.  Article also discusses the 2030 Challenge promoted by the organization Architecture 2030 and supported by the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  The 2030 Challenge calls for a 50 percent reduction in the amount of fossil fuel consumption by 2010 with the ultimate goal of carbon neutrality being achieved by 2030.  The article concludes by listing helpful strategies that owners, contractors, and architects can take to attain the ultimate goal of carbon neutrality.
