Report on activities of the University of Central Oklahoma, a recipient of APPA's 2007 Award for Excellence.  With an invorgorated staff, a new automated work management system, and a focus on customer service UCO's upper management allocated available funding first to infrastructure needs and deferred maintenance.  Outlines the university's partnership with Johnson Controls to update HVAC systems, review of APPA and NACUBO best practices, employee orientation and training, sustainability initiatives, conversion of cafeteria cooking oil into biodiesel fuel, and Ebay auctions of surplus property, among others. Includes a sidebar detailing the facilities management division's core values of customer service, stewardship, facilities excellence, integrity, teamwork, and professionalism. Includes photo of staff receiving their Award for Excellence at the APPA 2007 meeting in Baltimore, Maryland in July.
