One of the traits employers are seeking in new hires is a holistic understanding of natural systems and environmental sustainabilty. Identifies some of the skills needed to achieve a sustainable and equitable society, including communication skills, understanding of the need for the shift to sustainability, adaptability and flexibilty, analytical and research skills, and multicultural sensitivity and awareness, among others. Describes how University of Washington students are being prepared to deal with issues of sustainability in a complex world through curriculum and campus policies and practices.
