Although not as dramatic, notes that the evolution of elevator technology is straining conventional prescriptive codes. Discusses current and upcoming elevator codes, including ASME A17.1, and the impact of new technologies on the codes. Emphasizes that ignorance of new laws is not a viable excuse should an issue result in litigation.
