"2004 Effective & Innovative Practices Award Winners Show Imagination and Practical Solutions /  Queensland University of Technology: Facilities Condition Audit"

Queensland University of Technology's Facilities Management Department conducted a strategic facilities condition audit which gathered high-level data on the university's assets and infrastructure, examining QUT's physical condition, legislative compliance, 15-year capital renewal needs, asset functionality, and elemental asset replacement and deprival valuations of four million square feet of assets.  Brian Fenn, associate director, operations at QUT, describes how the audit satisfied the criteria of APPA's Effective & Innovative Practices Award, reporting on its institutional benefits; innovative practices characteristics; portability and sustainability; management commitment and employee involvement; and documentation, analysis, customer input, and benchmarking.
