“A seat at the table,” from the perspective of educational facilities professionals, refers to how the facilities department can and should play a role in critical campus conversations involving decisions that affect the institution’s success. Earning this spot can be hard to do. The leadership team at New Mexico State University cemented its role at the proverbial decision-making table by improving the department’s image, communicating their achievements, exercising patience, building relationships, and always offering positive solutions to essential campus issues.
