"The Impact of Occupational Health & Safety Legislation on Building Quality--The Australian Model to Estimate Deferred Maintenance"
Author: Cushway, Lloyd D.
Published In: Proceedings of the 1993 Educational Conference
Date: 1993

Presentation at APPA's 80th Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. Shows a simplified and quick method of determining the impact of occupational health and safety legislation on the backlog of work required to bring the physical fabric up to an acceptable level of quality, a procedure useful for situations where the facilities management is underresourced and there is a need to at least quantify a "ball park" estimate of costs for administrators.  Provides specific case studies of buildings at the University of Adelaide.  Discusses capital assets, building quality, facilities condition index, and comparison with other Australian universities.  Include tables, graphs, and references.
