Discusses the development and implementation of a Computer Aided Facilities Management information system by University of Virginia Facilities Management. Describes the project phases and its objectives. Concludes that the new frontier of information technology requires a management commitment in time and money to provide the technology but also to bring all staff to a level of independence with respect to the information technology aspects of their normal work tasks.
