"Clemson University's Central Energy Facility and Energy Systems Laboratory--An Integration of Operations and Academics"
Author: Mueller, Brian T.
Published In: Proceedings of the 1999 Educational Conference
Date: 1999

Presentation at APPA's 86th Annual Meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Clemson University's Central Energy Facility combined the need to replace a 50-year-old steam plant with a plan to provide hands-on experience and educational and research opportunities for faculty and students of American colleges and universities. The concept effectively "modularizes" the energy facility, thus allowing for various power technologies to be incorporated into the operational mission.  Covers project development, marketing plan, RFP, proposal evaluation, contractor selection, construction, and academic involvement.
