Describes how 2 universities combined their purchasing power and resources to procure electrical energy services for the operation of their facilities. By combining electrical loads, staff, and financial resources, along with strong support from top management of the 2 university systems and the individual campuses, they were able to select a vendor and negotiate a successful contract with total savings projected at $15.7 over a four year period. Discusses forming the alliance, procurement process, and lessons learned from the joint venture.
