A complete facilities inventory and survey of existing barriers is one of the first steps that can help facilities execute required structural changes in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Sections cover how to recognize a barrier, disabling conditions and design requirements, surveying for barriers, utilizing handicapped consumers, conducting the survey, and evaluating the results. Lists names and addresses of national organizations serving the disabled community that may be able to assist with campus projects. An appendix includes two examples of campus survey forms.
