Both protection of historic properties and provision of accessible environments for handicapped people are governed by a network of local, state, and federal statutes that must be coordinated when addressing problems in historic buildings.  Covers laws protecting historic properties, mandates for accessibility, standards and building codes, and review process necessitated when issues converge.  Lists citations for major legislation affecting accessibility modifications in historic buildings under the categories of preservation of historic properties, access to handicapped persons, and access to historic properties.
