"We Were Prepared: Surviving a 7.1 Earthquake"

Describes the aftermath of a 7.1 earthquake in October 1989 at the University of California, Santa Cruz.  The first priority was the residence halls, of which two out of eight were determined to be unsafe.  Discusses process of assessing damages, preparing estimates for permanent repairs, and obtaining funding through state and federal sources.  Determined that campus disaster plan had helped handle the crisis and lists areas where response could be improved.
