Recent federal regulations concerning medical waste apply to any academic institutions and affiliated medical centers, health care centers, hospitals, and research laboratories that are generators, transporters, or disposal facilities for regulated medical waste generated in certain designated states.  Covers the Medical Waste Tracking Act of 1988; generator responsibilities for segregation, packaging and labeling, marking, and tracking forms; transporter responsibilities; treatment and dispsal facility responsibilities; and designation of infectious waste.
