Facilities Manager
University of Oregon

Position Summary
A key member of the University Housing Facilities Services leadership team, the Facilities Manager reports to the Director of Housing Facilities Services. This position has responsibilities to support University Housing facilities, an auxiliary educational and business enterprise of the university with an annual operating budget of approximately 50 million dollars. University Housing provides residence hall accommodations for approximately 4,200 students, with 9 dining venues and 432 apartments and family housing units. The various units represent over 2 million square feet of living/dining space and approximately 80 acres of grounds. This position supervises custodial staff that operate seven days a week, including swing and night shifts, and oversees custodial operations in specific areas, performs standards inspections and surveys to gather information for maintenance needs to improve common and living areas.

This position works cooperatively and collaboratively with staff within University Housing and other institutional stakeholders. This position is responsible for responding to and resolving after-hours and weekend emergency maintenance and custodial requirements, sharing the duty on a one-week rotational basis with the other Facilities Services managers. This position routinely makes decisions related to hiring, assignments, day-to-day operations, and performance and behavior issues for assigned classified and student employees. This position is responsible for budget and acquisition requirements for a wide variety of equipment, tools, and supplies necessary to accomplish custodial and maintenance operations. This position routinely makes independent decisions, especially during after-hours emergency situations which have departmental and campus impacts.

Minimum Requirements
• Four years of experience supervising custodial staff in commercial, institutional, retail, or medical buildings AND
• Two years of experience in operating and maintaining motorized floor cleaning equipment and its associated chemicals on both solid surface and carpet flooring.

Director, Housing Capital Construction

Position Summary
The Director of Housing Capital Construction provides vision, leadership, and direction on behalf of University Housing for capital construction and improvement projects. This position provides direct oversight for planning, design, estimating, negotiating, construction management, and furnishing, fixtures and equipment packages of capital repair and improvement projects developed within University Housing, in collaboration with colleagues and leadership.

A key member of the Facilities Services leadership team, this position reports to the Director of Housing Facilities Services and to the Student Services and Enrollment Management Assistant Vice President, to assure the integration of campus users and effective collaboration during the capital construction process.

This position provides facilities services management support including maintenance and custodial operations to University Housing, an auxiliary educational and business enterprise of the university with an annual operating budget of approximately 50 million dollars. University Housing provides residence hall accommodations for approximately 4,200 students, with nine dining venues and 432 apartments and family housing units. Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Engineering Management, Engineering, or a closely related field. An equivalent combination of appropriate formal education and significant leadership and management experience in the construction industry/field may be accepted in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree requirement; AND
• Five years of experience in planning, development, design, and project management of capital improvement and construction projects in a large maintenance or facilities operation.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in university residential or higher education facilities, especially in a setting where duties were performed as a member of a team serving diverse operations.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant capital construction computer-based applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.), Autodesk software suite (Acad, Revit, Navisworks etc.), Adobe suite software (Acrobat, Photoshop, sketch-up), Finishline, Microsoft Project, and MultiVista. Demonstrated working knowledge must have been within the past five years.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the Oregon State Structural Specialty Code (latest version) and ADA accessibility guidelines.
• Current or ability to procure an Oregon Driver’s License with ability to obtain UO driver’s certification.
