Mott Community College

Mott Community College, located in mid-Michigan, welcomes applications for an Operations Manager - Facilities.

Operations Manager - Facilities: This role is responsible for Facilities Services operational department supervisor(s), as assigned. This position also assists the Executive Director (ED) with strategy, planning, design development and construction operations for the College's Facilities Services Department. They provide leadership of the various functions within the facilities operations as assigned, and directly supervises one (1) Exempt Manager, one (1) full-time S&M, one to two (1-2) full-time ProTech, one (1) Admin Support, and various contractors, as needed. Requirements include a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of facilities management experience.

Assistant Director of Physical Plant
University of Portland

Reporting to the Director of the Physical Plant, this position participates in managing Physical Plant maintenance operations and personnel by providing strong leadership and direction. Duties include participating in day-to-day decision-making, as well as managing and coordinating Physical Plant services through supervision and management of department supervisors and associated assignments and budgets. Duties also include assisting with planning and development of long-range and short-range operational goals for the department, as well as developing and implementing processes for improving work methods, increasing work efficiencies, and reducing costs.

Responsibilities

Oversee the management and coordination of assigned Physical Plant programs and/or personnel (technically, operationally, and administratively), including: planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of assigned areas; monitoring activities and projects for timely completion and quality; overseeing staffing, performance evaluation, and staff management; and forecasting maintenance department staffing needs. These duties may include direct supervision of supervisory and/or non-supervisory staff.

Participate in annual and multiyear project prioritization, planning, and budgeting; participate in department/unit strategic management; may lead planning in some areas or segments; develop and review recommendations regarding short-term and long-range programs and projects and long-range financial and programmatic planning and development.

Participate in Physical Plant budget planning and review processes.

Participate in development and review of Physical Plant policies and procedures; participate in interpretation and management of policies and procedures.

Clarify and resolve complex problems; develop and/or oversee programs, projects, and/or systems improvements. Participate in and lead assessment programs. Manage assigned projects. Projects may include, but are not limited to, operational improvements, systems improvements, compliance matters, and safety initiatives.

Research and recommend new initiatives, systems, processes, and/or technologies to improve service, increase efficiencies, achieve budget savings, and realize system-wide opportunities. Implement approved initiatives, systems, processes, and/or technologies.

Responsible for ensuring departmental compliance for legal compliance areas as assigned, including, but not limited to, employment laws, safety laws, and environmental laws.

Act as designee for Director of Physical Plant as requested.

Other duties as relevant to the duties of the position or as assigned by supervisor or designee.
