Born in 1945 in Jackson, Mississippi, Sam Polk grew up during a period of social segregation, and participated in the struggle to win the rights we now share in America. In this article, he shares how he became involved with APPA and introduced African Americans to the other groups to APPA, helping to establish an incentive for others to continue this initiative for diversity.
