"LEED Certification and Campus Sustainability"

Describes how and why higher education can be a leader in making the changes necessary for sustainability and implementing the technology and knowledge to reach this goal. Discusses what is happening in regard to sustainability issues in higher education and reviews the LEED program developed by the U.S. Green Building Council to certify new buildings on different levels dependent on sustainability attributes. Encourages readers to look into specific examples of campus projects related to sustainability. Reinforces the concept that "sustainable buildings and practices are often simple good buildings and practices." Lists websites for additional information and encourages participation in Campus Sustainability Day.
