"Information and Research Committee Shakes Things Up"

Preview of author's presentation at the 2004 Educational Facilities Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C.  Describes the total revamping of APPA's data collection process, the province of the association's Information and Research Committee.  Reports on the changes to the Comparative Cost and Staffing Survey and the Strategic Assessment Model, which have resulted in a new annual survey which provides clear facilities performance indicators. Eight modules form the basis of the new data collection process: general data, operating cost data, strategic financial data, process data, staffing data, customer satisfaction, innovation and learning, and process level self-evaulations on finance, internal business, customer, innovation and learning.   Includes samples of the new survey tools and discusses why this information is important and how it can be used.
