To avoid constant and costly expenditures, a facility must have been designed from the beginning for the ease of maintenance.  Facilities management must exercise a decisive influence in the selection of the design team and provide clear guidelines on maintenance issues. Discusses important factors to consider in the design process and approach of including maintenance and operation instructions by constractors in the process of receiving a completed facility.
