Author: Daigneau, William A.
Published In: Proceedings of the 1993 Educational Conference
Date: 1993

Presentation at APPA's 80th Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. Discusses the confusion over the term "physical plant administrator" and the trend to use "facilities manager" in its place.  Concludes that that the change in terminology reflects more than a simple modernization of terms but reflects differences in management philosophy and approach to facilities management as compared to physical plant administration practiced during the past two decades.  Discusses these changes and their implications for higher education facilities management.  Using a multiple-choice test format, explains how focus, planning, prevention, perspective, purpose, and outcome relate to the changes and a manager's style.
