Focuses on two chemical families (chlorofluorocarbos--CFCs--and halons) used in myriad applications that are known to present a threat of stratospheric ozone depletion.  Discusses what is meant by ozone depletion, identifies CFCs and halons and their uses, and reviews international efforts to protect the ozone, CFC recycling, CFC excise tax, and future regulations and concerns.
