The Assistant Director of Health and Safety will be responsible for managing and providing the overall leadership for safety, health and regulatory compliance for the Housing Department. The position will be the liaison between the University Health and Safety Department, Facilities Management Department and Housing. This position will review current processes for compliance, recommend future changes, implement adopted changes, monitor and report on overall effectiveness of programs. This position will be the key leadership position to ensure a safe healthy work environment and living environment for our occupants. This position will help with internal projects that are completed by our staff, contractors, facilities management or a combination of work forces.
Job duties include: Providing the leadership for investigating indoor air quality (IAQ) issues, testing, remedial program, and reporting; developing and implementing a written plan for conducting baseline indoor air quality assessments for all buildings when concerns or complaints arise; Utilizing outside resources, internal staff and testing equipment investigate problems, determine sources, and ensure proper action is taken to eliminate problems; Interpreting data, preparing technical reports, and issuing recommendations for mitigation; Maintaining records of all assessments and outcomes. Creating new or modifying existing processes and standard operating procedures (SOP) to develop and implement health emergency response plans to guide the department in responding to disease or emergency health issues found in residential populations, including the logistics and assets required. Creating occupational and environmental risk assessments for Housing and developing written programs, conducting compliance inspections, and assisting with corrective action plans and training.
Master’s degree and 3 years related program experience, or bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience is required. Incumbent must also possess a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of applicable OSHA and EPA rules, regulations and laws; working knowledge of test equipment used to investigate indoor air quality problems; knowledge of applicable safety principles, methods, standards and techniques used to correct unsafe working conditions; working knowledge of database, spreadsheet, word processing and communications software strongly preferred.

PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities Services and Operations, the Logistical Services Manager provides direct supervision and management of the Shipping and Receiving, Moving Services, Material Control Center, Mail and Delivery Services operations. This position is responsible for all aspects of planning and execution of logistical support and setup for numerous University events, including commencements, luncheons, receptions, and other events that promote ongoing relationships with students, alumni, faculty, staff, and donors. The Incumbent also ensures that assigned employees accurately collects, sorts, and distributes campus mail and packaged materials in accordance with U.S. Postal Service regulations and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Manages the trade shops that perform facilities operations and maintenance of the campus including the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building trades.
- Ensures code compliance and safety; supports departmental strategic goals.

The position responsibilities include providing engineering services for utility mechanical distribution facilities consisting of domestic water, chilled water, steam, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and natural gas systems. Duties will include analyzing and troubleshooting utility systems and equipment; planning and managing utility projects; and coordinating contractors and design consultants.
