The Director of Finance, Space & Logistics is the Chief Financial Officer and primary advisor on financial matters to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Facilities Management. The Director supports the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) and is the primary financial liaison with the Administrative Vice Chancellor's Office and the Academic Planning and Budget Office. The Director works in consultation with the Assistant Vice Chancellors and Directors heading up each operating unit. 

The Director of Finance, Space & Logistics has responsibility for four major functions, overseeing $234.5M of expenditures with a staff of 31 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees. The annual fiscal responsibility breaks down to: Facilities Management - $156.2M; Energy Services - $77.1M; AVC Office, Space and Other Funds - $1.2M. Total Division FTE - 1,031.  The four major functions include: 1. Chief Financial Officer. 2. Financial and Accounting Management, 3. Materiel Management (Logistics) and, 4. Space Inventory Management.  The Director has responsibility for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling the employees that provide accounting, finance, materiel management and space information services to the 1,031 employees of Facilities Management. Conducts strategic planning, evaluation of services and implementation planning to ensure the most cost-effective delivery of support service to the Facilities Management operating units and the AVC. Develops work protocols, monitoring and controlling systems and procedures in conjunction with the Directors of each operating unit within Facilities Management. Financial management responsibilities include budget setting for each of Facilities Management's operating units, monitoring and controlling deviations, anticipating financial trends and initiating proactive responses.

The Director determines appropriate levels of his staff, in consultation with the AVC, to meet changing and fluctuating work priorities and maintains a balance of permanent and casual staff as well as contracted services to meet immediate objectives in a cost effective manner while ensuring longer range goals are attained. Develops recruitment strategies, selection, job training, evaluation, career development and employee incentive programs that ensure a highly professional, qualified and motivated workforce. Directs supervisory and management development activities as well as management incentive programs. Oversees all forms of the complaint processes such as corrective actions, sexual harassment issues, dismissals and other complaints that negatively impact the organization in a dysfunctional manner.

Building Engineer / HVAC Maintenance
Sidwell Friends School

Sidwell Friends, a coeducational, PK-12 Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a full-time Building Engineer. The position is based on our D.C. campus but will also be required to be present on our Bethesda, MD campus a few days throughout the week. The Building Engineer is responsible for the daily physical campus maintenance which includes but is not limited to monitoring, maintaining, adjusting and repairing all building HVAC and/or plumbing systems and equipment to allow for the safe and smooth operation of all school buildings, across both campuses.

The ideal candidate will possess a developed and demonstrated expertise in either or both HVAC or plumbing. HVAC work may include but is not limited to installation, inspection, troubleshooting and repair of boilers, chillers, pumps, air handlers, filters, valves, VAVs, unit ventilators, ductwork, compressors and the digital control system. Plumbing work may include but is not limited to making installations, modifications, and repairs to new or existing plumbing, pipes, fittings, and drains.

Other duties include but are not limited to helping with snow removal, shelving, play/theater props, physical education equipment, assisting with periodic safety drills, etc. The ideal candidate will also make preparations for the many events held on the campus, including set up and break downs.

Must have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC and/or plumbing. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with leading basic maintenance projects, developing and writing scope of work, schedule and budget, using basic MS Office suite software and maintaining database of project information. Ability to work within a team with a strong customer service orientation and relationship building is required. Should have a working knowledge of safety procedures for working with HVAC and/or plumbing, moving parts and ladders as well as the ability to understand blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.

This 12-month, non-exempt full-time position is benefits eligible and begins in August 2020.

Head of Engineering
The J. Paul Getty Trust

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, Michael Rogers, the Head of Engineering will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight as steward while providing guidance and expertise on facility matters for the J. Paul Trust and Getty Programs (Getty Museum, Getty Research Institute, Getty Conservation and Getty Foundation).

In addition, this position requires progressive experience in a large, complex organization, preferably in a world-class cultural organization, university, pharmaceutical, and/or medical center; a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or similar field (a Master’s degree is desirable); a Professional Engineer license; demonstrated organizational experience in facilities engineering management (at least ten years preferred); a minimum of ten years’ supervisory experience including hiring, performance management, supervision and staff development; technical proficiency in facilities engineering operations that includes a high-level of experience with managing complex central plant systems, fire protection systems, building controls which strictly regulate building environmental conditions (high-rise experience preferred); demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects such as central plant retrofits, building automation system upgrades and infrastructure replacement; an ability to preserve world-class architecture and maintain architectural and aesthetic standards; outstanding ability to communicate across the full spectrum of an organization; exceptional time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines; excellent leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; demonstrated sound judgment, with integrity, and observing ethical standards; execution of professional responsibilities with due care, competence and diligence in accordance with the professional standards.

Capital Program Engineer, Facility Services

PRIMARY DUTY: The Capital Programs Engineer provides professional engineering services in support of campus-wide construction, operations, and capital planning. Performs and/or oversees engineering planning, design, and development, and provides leadership, guidance, technical coordination, and review.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field, as well as technical knowledge of architecture/engineering and building construction activities

 Certification/License: Valid driver’s license   

 Experience: Minimum of six years in a mechanical engineering consulting field with supervisory experience

 Knowledge & Skills: A broad based knowledge of all phases of commercial building design, construction, and maintenance with a strong background in mechanical equipment and HVAC systems, including energy management system interfaces; must be knowledgeable in: Design and operation of building systems; construction contract document preparation and administration; specification writing and interpretation; construction budgeting and control; quality control; strong communication skills; and a basic understanding of current federal, state, and local rules, regulations, building codes, and labor laws
