Director of Facilities Management and Planning
Shippensburg University

Shippensburg University is currently searching for a Director of Facilities Management and Planning.   Anticipated starting salary range is $108,000 to $120,000 annually including an extensive benefits package and tuition waiver for employee and dependents.

 

This senior level position is responsible for all functions related to the physical setting of a university campus of over 200 acres of grounds, 2.5 million square feet of usable academic, residential and office space, and all campus utility systems including a central chilled water plant and distribution system and campus-wide energy management system.  To accomplish the necessary functions, the Director will manage an operational budget of over $15 million and coordinate the efforts of a staff of over 130 professionals, tradespeople, custodians, and administrative personnel.

 

Specific responsibilities are extensive and include management and control functions, business service functions, operations and maintenance, work management, facilities management, building and grounds services, utilities services, fleet management, environmental health and safety, as well as planning and construction.  A high degree of skill and knowledge is needed to maintain university operational capability during massive capital construction programs. 

 

The position requires individual commitment to provide facilities support to the mission and myriad expectations of a university community.  Experience dealing with a diverse and complex customer and labor base and managing multiple priorities with wide ranging detail and impact are key to success as well as the ability to express and communicate effectively.  Also, the ability to focus a diverse and complex work force to provide top quality customer service in a continuously improving environment is needed.    

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or other facilities related field and a minimum of seven years of experience managing a highly complex facilities operation.  An advanced degree in engineering, architecture, business or related field is preferred.  Current registration as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is desired.  Demonstrated experience in construction project management and contract administration, building system design, building commissioning, energy management, facilities environmental issues, operations and maintenance of buildings, environmental health and safety and compliance, and other related subjects is preferred.  Experience in a higher education setting and a collective bargaining environment is also preferred. Successful performance in an on-campus interview and presentation is required.

Construction Project Manager
Stephen F. Austin State University

This is a professional position responsible for field supervision of campus construction and small projects. Responsible for all aspects of construction, including coordination of professional services. Works with contractors and in-house personnel on jobs where the university is serving as the contractor. Ensures the university complies with all applicable building codes and standards. Reports to the Assistant Director of Construction at the Physical Plant Department.

Monitors work done by contractors to ensure it meets required standards and conducts periodic meetings with clients, architects, engineers, contractors and others as needed. Ensures contractors follow required safety regulations and that all construction meets applicable building codes and standards. Works with architects and engineers to ensure design can be constructed, meets the institutional standards for construction and will serve the client’s needs. Reviews quality requirements, which include testing and inspecting services, manufacturer’s field services and quality assurance. Works with Physical Plant personnel to resolve maintenance problems/issues. May prepare presentation materials, drawing exhibits, computations, cost estimates, reserach of codes and materials. May need to maintain AutoCAD files, blueprints, as-builts, computer systems and software.

Four years of related experience is required. Valid driver’s license is required. Additional education may substitute for experience. Associate’s degree or higher in architecture, design, engineering, construction management, project management or a related field is preferred. Experience in higher education facilities is preferred. LEED accreditation, APPA CEFP, PMP or related certification is preferred.

CEFP Certification and EFP preferred.
